‘Burma – What Human Rights?’ by Dean Chapman

European Publishers’ Award winner Dean Chapman opena an exhibition of new work from his seminal photography project “Burma” at Darlington’s Decisive Moment Gallery on 29th September. His in depth photographic investigation of the Karenni people of Burma, which began in 1990, was chosen as the recipient of the 1998 European Publishers’ Award for Photography. Karenni – the Forgotten War of A Nation Besieged was published in five editions, in five languages. The work has successfully been exhibited across Europe and Japan, and published internationally.

Burma – What Human Rights? features new work gleaned from Dean’s recent trip to the refugee areas of the Burma/Thai and Burma/China borders. Dean will be opening the exhibition in Darlington Media Group’s photography gallery at 1pm on Saturday 29th September.
