Running from the 11th September to 23rd October this exhibition draws together several chapters from Jill Cole’s ongoing work on British military land in North Yorkshire. A portrait of a young army recruit on paintballing exercise sits alongside images of birds captured for research on army land and winter landscapes of military firing ranges. Drawing on a broad tradition of documentary photography the exhibition references the interrelationship between conflict, beauty and renewal by locating our own, distanced realities within an ongoing presence of war.
